This is a corrective exercise mobile application which is developed for Android platform. Corrective Exercise is a technique that leverages an understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and biomechanics to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances to improve the overall quality of movement during workouts and in everyday life. This technique is used to help assess and determine the root cause of imbalances and faulty movement patterns that lead to issues with posture, balance, and total body coordination.
Addressing a client’s functional movement and the issues impeding it, especially at their feet, knees, and hips, helps reduce the stress put on their body. By properly aligning the body, corrective exercises help reduce the risk of future injury by ensuring that the body can handle the load of everyday movement.
Corrective Exercise application uses the state-of-the-art algorithms in pose estimation to detect a user’s pose (skeleton detection), then evaluate the vector geometry of the pose during exercise to provide useful feedback.
The goal of this project is to assist athletics to perform their training sessions independently on their own. A common observation is that even people who are doing a sport for long time find it difficult to perform all steps (body pose alignments) in a workout accurately. To help solve this problem and help in the form of a visual feedback while performing a training, we propose a method to analyze user’s body posture during a workout and compare it to a professional’s reference workout. We represent human body as a collection of limbs and analyze angle between limb pairs to detect errors and provide corrective action to the user.
