Delphi-2M: AI Predicts 1,000+ Diseases and Your Future Health

AI predicts 1,000+ diseases up to 20 years ahead, reshaping preventive medicine and personal health planning.
Research and Breakthroughs

In 17 September 2025, a team of international researchers unveiled Delphi-2M, a breakthrough generative AI that can forecast an individual's risk for more than 1,000 diseases - from diabetes and heart failure to rare genetic conditions - up to 20 years in advance.

Trained on over 400,000 UK Biobank records and validated with 1.9 million Danish patient histories, Delphi-2M goes beyond predicting single illnesses. It maps a person's entire health trajectory, showing how risks change over time and how one condition can trigger another.

Experts say this advance could revolutionize preventive medicine by allowing earlier interventions, personalized treatment plans, and smarter public health policies. But researchers warn it's not yet ready for clinical deployment --- and ethical issues such as data privacy, fairness, and avoiding over-reliance on AI must be carefully addressed.
